How We Started

Setag formally began in 2005 as a group of seasoned IT professionals assisting one another. Members had various areas of expertise, and became a resource in finding solutions or providing experienced labor for a weekend project. This evolved into full-time employment. By 2019 Setag was providing a handful of clients in the San Francisco Bay Area and Amsterdam with managerial and technological consulting. The idea was to provide expert services to clients with a focus on delivering tailored solutions in a timely manner.

The COVID-19 pandemic made travel increasingly difficult and operations were moved to Europe between 2020 and 2025. During this time services focused on remote access, mobility, AI, and endpoint security.

Small Projects

Understanding the business processes and knowing available technologies, Setag was able to find new efficiencies or savings.

“We started with simple IT projects, migrations, upgrades, and moves. However, you learn a lot about a company in the process. New opportunities were often discovered during the project. With an education in behavioral science, teaching graduate and undergraduate public administration, and a career in managing technology, these discoveries would be documented in post project reports. I soon found myself requested for peripheral business initiatives.”

Permanent Contracts

Some clients have requested a long-term contract or a semi-permanent staff member. We have created a few options to provide ongoing support for an initiative or operations. This can be a weekly visit to work on a project or an additional support member. To ensure resilience in the role we typically try to have at least two staff members familiar with the needs of the client’s organization. A third option is having the client payroll an employee that leverages the assistance of Setag’s consultants as needed.

Careers at Setag

As a consulting organization our career approach follows several tracks and employment options. As such, our business analysts and IT support services remain freelance or contract. A full description is provided in the Mentorship and Development Program page. The goal is to provide access to a comprehensive skill set through experience and education.
